This beautifully hand carved alder was inspired from a Tlingit Chookaneidee Clan Exit song. The way the grains would appear to change as the carving progressed reminded me of changing tides. This is how masks evolve throughout the process of "Finding My Way" as I create pieces of art! The hair is horse hair. I like the way it adds to the overall look. The left side of the face has black painted area that represents wave action. On the right side of the face there is the a pattern representing the origions of the beginnings of Formline.
